Which shop is closer to you?
Home / What are you cleaning / Start a wash business
You're washing driveways and house sides with a store-bought washer, and the calls you actually want, a restaurant's grease pad or a truck yard, are the ones you can't take.
A homeowner machine runs cold, moves too little water and carries none of its own, so grease won't move and every job waits on the customer's spigot. It also isn't built to run all day, every day.
Every job you turn down goes to someone who already has a rig, and that customer doesn't call twice. Renting by the day eats the margin on the jobs you do take.
The shop asks what work you want to win first, what you'll tow with, and where your water comes from. It asks how you plan to pay and whether you've run hot water before, because the answer changes which rig makes sense.
The starter rig on the published grid is the AWW-HDS5, 5 GPM at 3500 PSI on an 18 HP Vanguard with a diesel-fired burner, on the UTS230 single-axle trailer with a 230-gallon tank, from $14,488. The same machine on the UT-CART pull cart is also $14,488. If you're going after truck yards, the AWW-HDS8 on the UTS230 steps up to 8 GPM from $15,788. Freight is free in the continental US, with a fuel surcharge by destination. Machines on their own, like the All American Premier skid or the Hotsy 1200, are quoted on the call.
Ask about financing on the call. For soap, Breakthrough and Ripper I cover most first jobs, and Transport Vehicle Wash is for trucks.
