Cold Water Pressure Washers

Cold water is enough when the dirt is mud, dust or loose debris with no oil in it. Per Hotsy's 2016 brochures, the cold water line runs from a 115V hand-carried unit at 1.8 GPM up to 5.9 GPM, and up to 5,000 PSI, with gasoline engine models for work away from an outlet.

First question: is there grease or oil in what you clean? If there is, look at hot water. Cold water pushes oil around; it does not lift it.

If cold water fits, the next question is power. A 20 A, 115V circuit runs the Hotsy ET and the 1710. The 1700, CWC and BDE series want 208 to 575V depending on the model, and the BDE needs three phase for its 20 HP motor. Away from power, the engine models take over. The DB and HD are the compact ones, the BX is a rugged frame in a smaller size, and the BD is the heavy caged model, including one with a Kohler diesel.

Fixed or on wheels? The 1700 mounts on a wall or a floor stand and the CWC is a stationary cabinet, both plumbed to your water and power. If the washer follows the work, look at a caged or wheeled engine model. The HD frame converts from cart to skid, so it can ride on a trailer.

Feeding it hot water from a boiler? The 1700 pump carries a hot water seal kit rated for incoming water up to 180°F, per its brochure.

Then match GPM and PSI to the surface. More pressure is not always better on paint, wood or soft metal. We go through that with you on the call.

What it's for

  • Mud, dust and loose debris on equipment, concrete and building exteriors
  • Wash-down in plants and restaurants where a wall-mounted unit is piped in
  • Crews that need a light gasoline unit in the truck

What it's not for

  • Grease, oil and diesel soot: you will spend the difference in time and detergent
  • Indoor use of a gasoline engine model: pick an electric one

What are you cleaning?

Tell us the job in your own words. A person at the counter calls you and starts with the problem. Nobody pitches a machine until we understand the job.

A dead burner, a citation, a bid due Friday. Your words.
How do we reach you? A phone or an email is enough.
A few more questions (optional)
Downtime, labor, a lost bid. A rough idea is fine.
Brand, model, age if you know it.

Here's what happens next: The Pacoima counter calls you within one business hour, or emails you if you leave no number. The call is 15 minutes. We ask what's going wrong, how you plan to pay, and who else weighs in. At the end we set a next step, or tell you straight that we're not the right shop. Nobody pitches anything until we understand the job.
